2023 BMW 7 Series arrived in Malaysia

BMW Malaysia has officially introduced the all-new seventh-generation 7 Series with the launch of the BMW 750e xDrive in Malaysia. This plug-in hybrid luxury sedan is locally assembled (CKD) and is available in two trim levels: Pure Excellence and M Sport. The starting price for the Pure Excellence variant is RM649,800 on the road, excluding insurance. However, customers interested in the Pure Excellence trim should act quickly as there are only 48 units available nationwide.

Both variants of the BMW 750e xDrive share the same powertrain, consisting of a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine combined with an electric motor. Together, they produce a total output of 489 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to all wheels through the xDrive all-wheel drive system and an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox. The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and achieves a top speed of 250 km/h.

The electric motor is powered by a 22.1 kWh battery pack, providing an electric range of up to 87 km at speeds of up to 140 km/h. Charging can be done using the onboard 7.4 kW AC charger, enabling a full charge in under three hours.

In terms of design, both variants feature the Iconic Glow crystal headlights with embedded Swarovski crystals and the Iconic Glow grille frame, emphasizing the large kidney grille, especially at night. The Pure Excellence variant comes with 19-inch Style 903 double spoke alloy wheels, while the M Sport variant is equipped with sportier 20-inch Style 907 bicolour M aerodynamic wheels, complementing its more aggressive blacked-out Shadowline exterior.

Inside the cabin, both variants boast the BMW Curved Display, consisting of a 12.3-inch instrumentation display and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. The highlight of the interior is the BMW Interaction Bar, a touch-sensitive bar across the dashboard that integrates most of the centre stack buttons and also serves as the ambient lighting system. Additional features include automatic doors, a Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, Crafted Clarity crystal glass trims, a four-zone climate control system, head-up display, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

The Pure Excellence variant showcases Merino leather upholstery with oak mirror finish fine-wood trim on the dashboard and grey metallic highlights. On the other hand, the M Sport variant features a fineline black high-gloss fine-wood trim with metal effect highlights. The M Sport variant in Malaysia also offers additional features such as Executive Lounge Seating on the rear and a 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen.

In terms of safety, the BMW 750e xDrive M Sport is equipped with the Driving Assistant Plus package, while the Pure Excellence variant benefits from the more advanced Driving Assistant Professional package, which includes semi-autonomous driving capabilities in traffic jams. Parking Assistant Plus is standard on both variants.

The pricing for the BMW 750e xDrive is as follows:

  • BMW 750e xDrive Pure Excellence: RM649,800
  • BMW 750e xDrive M Sport: RM700,000

Both prices are inclusive of the extended five-year unlimited mileage warranty and free scheduled service programme. Insurance is not included.

BMW Malaysia also has plans to introduce the fully-electric i7 in Malaysia in the near future.
